Visit Cedar Creek Lake
Cedar Creek Lake is surrounded by 320 miles of shoreline and offers a variety of outdoor activities. The lake is a great place to go fishing thanks to plenty of largemouth bass in the clear lower end of the lake and catfish no matter where you drop a line. Explore George Watts Memorial Park
Enjoy the outdoors at George Watts Memorial Park. This park has a concrete walking and running path that stretches for almost 3 miles, a sand volleyball court, soccer fields, and baseball fields. Covered pavilions provide some shade if you need to get out of the Texas sun, and you can use the picnic tables. Bring the kids to play at the park or get out and watch one of the Little League baseball games.
Discover Purtis Creek State Park
Purtis Creek State Park is only a short drive from Mabank and offers many outdoor activities. The lake has catch-and-release largemouth bass, and you can fish for catfish and crappie that you can bring home. Get out on the water to paddle around in a canoe or kayak, or take a swim in the refreshing water.
If you need to rent a paddleboard or kayak, you can reserve one at the PaddleEZ website. Up to 50 motorized boats can be out on the lake at a time. If you have a boat, make sure to check the regulations before you launch your boat. Purtis Creek State Park also features hiking and biking trails and plenty of spots for a picnic.
Participate in Cedar Creek Fishing Adventures
If you want to learn all there is to know about catching crappie or a hybrid striper, then take a fishing trip with Allen Dyer of Cedar Creek Fishing Adventures. Dyer is a full-time professional fishing guide with a passion for fishing and teaching. At the end of your trip, you’ll get to clean and bag the fish to take home. You can book a full-day trip for two people that starts at 7 a.m. and lasts for eight hours. If you don’t want to go all day, get started with a half-day guided trip. The half-day trips begin at either 7 a.m. for a morning trip or 1 p.m. for an evening trip.
