which bronco is right for you in mabank, txAfter a hiatus of more than two decades, Ford has reintroduced the legendary off-road-ready Ford Bronco. The 2021 Bronco boasts the iconic styling and superior off-road capability of its predecessor and supplements these with impressive innovative features. As if this all-new Bronco SUV is not enough of a treat, Ford has also launched the Bronco Sport. The “baby” Bronco, which is based on the Escape, may be smaller than the truck-based Bronco, but it also offers plenty of off-road chops and innovative features. To help you decide which off-roader to go for, here’s a short comparison.

Exterior

The Bronco is available as either a two-door or four-door model. Like the Jeep Wrangler, both models come standard with removable doors, roofs, and body panels. As the exterior mirrors are mounted on the base of the windshield, you can still use them after the doors have been removed. Other standard features include 16-inch steel wheels, power-adjustable and heated mirrors, flip-up rear glass, and active grille shutters.

The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport boasts the same boxy design, rounded headlamps, and flip-up rear glass as the Bronco. However, it has no removable features. Standard gear includes power-adjustable mirrors, roof-rack side rails, and a big Bronco badge on the grille.

Engine

Both the Bronco and its baby brother offer a choice of two engines. The 2021 Ford Bronco features a standard turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four engine that pairs with a seven-speed manual transmission to produce 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. An optional twin-turbo 2.7-liter V-6 engine works together with a 10-speed automatic transmission to generate 310 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come standard with four-wheel drive.

The standard engine of the Bronco Sport is a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder that produces 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. For a more spirited performance, go for the optional 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. Both engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system.

Interior

To protect the interior of the Bronco during those off-road adventures, you can opt for durable, waterproof materials, such as rubberized flooring and marine-grade vinyl upholstery. The cabin also boasts innovative features, such as a special rack on top of the dashboard where you can place and charge smartphones. The standard Sync 4 system is equipped with modern features, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, SiriusXM, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.

For its relatively diminutive size, the Bronco Sport SUV offers a spacious cabin with plenty of legroom, along with additional headroom at the back due to a rear roofline that rises. What’s more, the cargo area is roomy enough to accommodate two standing bikes. Innovative interior features include a bottle opener that’s located in the hatch and two adjustable floodlights on the inside of the liftgate. You can also opt for a slide-out table in the cargo area. Like the Bronco, the Bronco Sport can be fitted with washable, rubberized flooring and upholstery.

Both the Bronco and the Bronco Sport are superior off-road performers. However, when compared, the Bronco is more powerful and extreme-terrain-ready than the Bronco Sport. Conversely, the Bronco Sport is more agile and fuel-efficient. To find out more about these exciting new vehicles, drop by Tri-County Ford and chat with one of our consultants.
