Cars are very good at letting you know when they have engine problems. At the first sign of trouble, you should head straight to the Ford dealer, so your engine issues can be taken care of by factory-trained Ford mechanics who receive ongoing training to work with all the latest Ford releases. Let’s talk about some signs of engine trouble and why they should always be fixed by a dealership mechanic.

1. Excessive Engine Noise

An increase in regular engine noise or new sounds coming from under the hood tells you that there’s something wrong. Different sounds indicate different issues. For example, knocking sounds can let you know that you need new motor oil.

Other noises can indicate much more serious issues with the engine and other parts of the car, so you need a dealership mechanic to diagnose your engine troubles using the latest diagnostic equipment and their advanced knowledge.

2. Overheating Engine

Your engine may overheat because there’s a problem with the cooling system. The cooling system is an essential part of your car, so any mechanic repairing it should have advanced knowledge of Ford vehicles and how their systems should run. Your engine may also overheat because there’s a problem with the engine itself, usually due to a low motor oil level or poor quality motor oil running through it.

Your Ford mechanic will need to dive in and figure out the exact cause of the overheating issue, and then they’ll need to repair the main issue as well as any further problems caused by the engine overheating. Overheating can cause damage to the engine that most definitely needs to be fixed by a Ford expert.

3. Poor Gas Mileage

Many issues lead to poor gas mileage. Your fuel system may have a leak, parts of your engine could be damaged or dirty and running inefficiently, or your air filters could be clogged with dirt and debris. Several other problems can lead to decreased gas mileage, too, so you’ll need a Ford expert to fully check out your vehicle and find the exact engine issue or other problem causing your poor gas mileage so they can fix it.

4. Trouble with the Starter Motor

Several parts work in tandem to get your car started. The starter motor is one of them. If the starter motor isn’t working, then it doesn’t matter if the other parts that get the engine started are in pristine condition. The car just won’t start unless you have a manual transmission and can bump start the car. You need a dealership mechanic to replace the starter, as it’s a vital component and needs to be replaced by a Ford expert who uses OEM parts.

Dealing with the issues we’ve talked about above? That’s no problem, as we can fix them easily. Come to Tri-County Ford for all your repairs.
