2023 Ford F-150 vs. 2023 RAM 1500

Overview

The 2023 Ford F-150 and 2023 Ram 1500 garner a lot of attention as the two kings of the pickup truck segment. Find out which one is better in this 2023 comparison.

Exterior and Trims

The Ford F-150 has eight trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, Tremor, and Raptor. The Ram 1500's eight trims are the Limited, Limited Longhorn, Rebel, Laramie, Big Horn, Tradesman, Tradesman HFE, and TRX. Ground clearance and other dimensions are similar, but the F-150's two special editions are fantastic for off-roading. With the Tremor, you can enjoy 33-inch all-terrain tires, while the Raptor takes it up to 34 inches and also adds Trail 1-Pedal Drive mode and more.

Engine and Performance

Several engines are available in the 2023 F-150 lineup, including a 450-horsepower, 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 and a 290-horsepower, 3.3-liter V-6. A 3.6-liter V-6 engine with 305 horsepower and a 5.7-liter V-8 engine with 395 horsepower are both available for the Ram 1500. The 10-speed automatic transmission, versus the Ram's eight-speed automatic, helps smoothen out the acceleration. A properly equipped F-150 can have a towing capability as high as 14,000 pounds compared to the Ram's 12,750-pound limit.

Interior Space and Bed Size

The maximum passenger volume of the Ram 1500 is 132 cubic feet, while the F-150 has 136 cubic feet of passenger space. The Ford comes with a 66-inch short box, 79-inch regular box, or a 96-inch long box. The Ram, meanwhile, only offers either a 67-inch or 76-inch bed.

Compared to the Ram 1500, the 2023 Ford F-150 is better equipped, roomier, and brings more impressive top-level models. For advanced off-roading, look for the Raptor or Tremor.
